FAQs

What opportunities are there for placements?

All of our business and law courses have opportunities to engage with the industry throughout the programme. Some of our courses have the option to complete up to a year’s paid placement or a three-month unpaid internship as part of the third trimester.

Will the university help me find work experience and placements?

While students are responsible for finding their own work experience and industry placements, the dedicated Business School employability team will guide and support you throughout the process. Industry experience not only enables you to apply your knowledge in real-world situations, but it allows you to form those vital connections early on in your career. We have links with a range of leading organisations and will help you in securing your placement with support such as CV writing and interview skills.

What connections with the industry does the school have?

Salford Business School works closely with industry partners. They provide feedback about our modules and course, ensuring our teaching is close to the demands of the job market and what is expected from a business or law graduate. There are regular job fairs with a range of companies on campus, so students have the chance to talk to them and get more information about placements, internships, and graduate jobs. Also, students will have networking opportunities with professionals at guest talks/lectures, and dedicated networking events.

Do you offer support to help students fund their studies?

We offer a selection of scholarships to help you fund your postgraduate studies. Our Global Gold Excellence Scholarship is worth £3,000 and our Global Silver Excellence Scholarship is worth £2,500. Both of these scholarships automatically deducted from your tuition fees.

We are located close to Manchester city centre which is a growing hub for businesses in the North of England. As a result there are lots of opportunities to find part time work in a variety of industries. We have an on-campus part-time recruitment agency, Unitemps, who can support you in finding a job within the university or at another local business. Our Careers and Enterprise team can also work with you to improve your CV and interview technique to secure a part-time job.

We also offer support to help with the cost-of-living in the UK. Details of the different support schemes can be found on our cost of living webpage. You’ll also find information of discounts and offers on this webpage.
