Environmental sustainability
By embedding sustainability we will enable our university community to create positive change for society and environment.
Carbon Literacy Training
Gain the knowledge and confidence to take climate action.
Our Carbon Literacy Training combines online learning (around four hours via Blackboard) with an in-person workshop. After completing both parts and a short assessment, you’ll become Carbon Literate and receive an official certificate.
Upcoming in-person sessions:
- Thursday 13 November, 13:00–16:00
- Wednesday 10 December, 10:00–13:00
Bookings close three days before each session to allow time for the online learning.
Green Impact
Want to make a difference and help reduce the environmental impact of The University of Salford? Get involved with Green Impact!
Out staff sustainability engagement programme is a great way for you to enhance sustainability at the university and receive recognition for your efforts. Registration is now live for 2025!
Students can also gain valuable transferable skills through volunteering to support the programme.
ReUse at Salford
The University of Salford is a member of WARP-it (Waste Action Reuse Portal), a redistribution network, which works in a similar way to Ebay or Freecycle but for organisations rather than individuals.
WARP-it makes it easy for departments to give away, loan or claim items unwanted by others within the organisation and beyond. Items which can be reused include furniture and stationery.
If you are from a local organisation interested in receiving donated items, please get in touch: eps-sustainability@salford.ac.uk.
