Giving to Salford

At the University of Salford, we have a long held belief in education for all.

Your generosity funds scholarships and bursaries for gifted individuals who would struggle to afford the costs of their studies. It supports cutting-edge research and special projects on campus. And it improves the experience of our current students during their time at Salford.

At the University of Salford, we are everything because of our community.

It is with the help of alumni, friends, donors and stakeholders that we can provide a number of scholarships and bursaries to support our students, fund new campus projects each year, provide outstanding resources and fund world-leading research and community hubs.

Your support is vital in ensuring access to higher education for all at the University of Salford and an outstanding student experience, equipping our students to be future leaders, creators and innovators.

The video below shows some of our donor-funded scholarship recipients explain what this support has helped them to achieve. We believe talented students should reach their potential, regardless of circumstance. With your help we can achieve so much more.

Thank you to all our donors

Philanthropy In action

At the University of Salford, we're honoured to have a diverse community of supporters who share our vision for creating a better future for those within and around our institution. Over the last three years, our donors, volunteers, and friends have helped us to provide our students, staff and community with life-changing experiences in a range of areas, including employability, entrepreneurship, health and wellbeing, research, community initiatives and more!

As an institution, the University of Salford plays a significant role in driving social mobility in our region as we help to raise the aspirations of young people whilst supporting our current students and alumni as they strive to achieve their dreams. With the encouragement of our supporters, we have continued our incredible work and were not only ranked 6th on the Social Mobility Index for 2022 but partnered with the Social Mobility Pledge.

To read about Philanthropy in action within our community and difference our supporters have made, see below. We would like to say a massive thank you to every individual and organisation that has helped us to create incredible opportunities for everyone at Salford.

Six ways you have made a difference

1.

£32,000 has been generously donated via legacies or in memory of a loved one. This year we opened the university’s first legacy garden, to commemorate those who have remembered the University in this way.

2.

With thanks to our Friends of Energy House 2.0, in 2022 we raised a total of £120,000. £60,000 of the funds raised went towards the Impact Fund. The other half of the funding was awarded to a PhD.

3.

In 2023, we raised almost £300,000. £95,000 will go towards the Impact Fund, £170,000 will be spent on two PhDs, and the remainder will be spent on scholarships across a range of programmes.

4.

Nearly £10,000 has been donated to support women in STEM, including the Gittins Engineering Scholarship which supports 3 women who wish to pursue a career in the STEM industry.

5.

10 student focused projects launched through the Revive Grants and Salford Advantage Fund Grants, including: Creative Encounters, Identifying Reasons - Mental Health, STEM Future Leaders and more.

6.

Through our partnership with IntoUniversity, thanks to our donors, we have raised nearly £400,000, which is estimated to benefit over 1,000 local school pupils a year who aspire to attend university.
