As a parent, carer, guardian or supporter, you'll likely play an active part in helping your student make decisions about studying at university. We understand there's lots of information to take in while helping them choose the right institution, so we want to make it easier for you.
All applications to full-time undergraduate course at UK universities must be made through UCAS. It’s important to keep UCAS deadlines in mind as missing them could jeopardise the student's application. Check out some key UCAS dates below and note them in your diary.
| 14 January 2026 | UCAS application deadline. |
| March 2026 | Student finance usually opens by the end of March. You can see what finance is available to using this online calculator. Students can apply for student finance even they’ve not accepted any of their offers yet. We advise students to apply early in the year and no later than May to ensure it’s in place by the start of the academic year. |
| 31 March 2026 | Universities will make decisions on applications by this date. |
| 6 May 2026 | If the student has received decisions from all of the universities they applied to by 31 March, firm and insurance choices must be made by this date. |
| 5 July 2026 | UCAS Clearing opens and universities begin to publish their vacancies. |
| 13 August 2026 | Results Day! |
| 20 August 2026 | GCSE results announced. |
