As a parent, carer, guardian or supporter, you'll likely play an active part in helping your student make decisions about studying at university. We understand there's lots of information to take in while helping them choose the right institution, so we want to make it easier for you.
All applications to full-time undergraduate course at UK universities must be made through UCAS. It’s important to keep UCAS deadlines in mind as missing them could jeopardise the student's application. Check out some key UCAS dates below and note them in your diary.
| 29 January 2025 | UCAS application deadline. |
| May 2025 | After applying, your student should start thinking about student finance. You can see what finance is available to using this online calculator. They can apply for student finance even they’ve not accepted any of their offers yet. Student finance usually opens by the end of March, we advise students to apply early in the year and no later than May to ensure it’s in place by the start of the academic year. |
| 14 May 2025 | Universities will make decisions on applications by this date. |
| 4 June 2025 | If the student has received decisions from all of the universities they applied to by 14 May, firm and insurance choices must be made by this date. |
| 5 July 2025 | UCAS Clearing opens and universities begin to publish their vacancies. |
| 14 August 2025 | Results Day! |
| 21 August 2025 | GCSE results announced. |
