Advice for parents, carers and supporters
As a parent, carer, guardian or supporter, you'll likely play an active part in helping your son or daughter make decisions about studying at university. We understand there's lots of information to take in while helping your child choose the right institution, so we want to make it easier for you.
For the purpose of this information, we’ve used the terms son, daughter or applicant as all-encompassing when referring to the prospective student you’re supporting.
Key UCAS dates
All applications to full-time undergraduate course at UK universities must be made through UCAS. It’s important to keep UCAS deadlines in mind as missing them could jeopardise your child’s application. Check out some key UCAS dates below and note them in your diary.
26 January 2022 | UCAS application deadline. |
May 2022 |
After applying, you should start thinking about student finance. You can see what finance is available to you using this online calculator. You can apply for student finance even if you’ve not accepted any of your offers yet. We would encourage you to apply for student finance as soon as possible to ensure your finances are in place for the new academic year. |
19 May 2022 | Universities must make decisions on your applications by this date. |
09 June 2022 | If you have received decisions from all of the universities you have applied to by 19 May, you must choose your firm and insurance choices by 09 June. |
18 August 2022 | A-level results announced |
25 August 2022 | GCSE results announced |
