Trimester 1

Placements - Are you considering an industry placement or internship? Discuss the benefits with the Careers and Enterprise team and talk to your school’s employability team. Keep an eye out for deadlines and don’t miss out!

CVs and applications - Whether you’re applying for a placement or a part time job, the Careers and Enterprise team can help. Come along to one of our workshops or access our online resources for help.

Career planning - It’s never too early to start researching options after you graduate. Look out for our workshops on career planning and access Handshake for details of events and visits from employers to gain insight into the range of opportunities out there.

Careers fairs - You may have attended a Careers fair before, so you have an idea of what to expect. A top tip is to research who’s attending and prepare some questions. Think about which employers you would like to speak to and what you’d like to find out.

Trimester 2

Interviews and assessments - Get prepared for any upcoming interviews and assessments. Our partnership with Graduates First provides Salford students with a range of practice aptitude tests from verbal to reasoning to assessment centre exercises. Have a go at some of the practice exercises to test your skills.

Spring careers fair - Make sure you come along to our Spring Careers fair. Networking with employers is a great way of developing your communication skills and building useful contacts. Remember to record these skills in your Employability Skills Checklist.

Trimester 3

Research graduate opportunities - Now is a good time to start researching Graduate roles. Our team can provide lots of support and recommend resources to assist you with this. Look out for regular Workshops and speak to the Careers and Enterprise the team for further information.

Discuss options - If you are feeling a bit confused about your options or just want to talk through your ideas, come along and speak to the Careers and Enterprise team. Remember, appointments are available online and face to face throughout the summer.
