Will there be networking events and opportunities to meet employers during my studies?
As many of our lectures continue to work on projects alongside teaching, we have a range of media industry relationships. This helps us to ensure that you’re learning relevant skills and are exposed to unrivalled opportunities.
We use these great relationships to give you access to media professionals. Whether that’s through introducing yourself to a guest speaker during a masterclass, attending the Royal Television Society events that take place at our MediaCity campus, or through our exclusive Nations and Regions: Media Futures events.
Plus, our courses are designed to allow and encourage you to undertake live briefs and placements, meaning you’ll be working on producing real work for real clients.
Will we get to work with the BBC and ITV?
Being located in MediaCity has its perks and we’re deeply proud of the strong working relationships we have with the BBC and ITV. This means you could get the opportunity to visit their studios, work on projects with them or help out when they sometimes use our studio facilities to produce programmes.
We also regularly have guest speakers from the media industry who often offer work experience or internships to our hardworking students.
Are there any additional costs apart from course fees?
You probably don’t have thousands of pounds to spend on professional camera, lighting and development equipment. Fortunately, everything you need for your studies is available for you to use when you need it. You may wish to purchase their own laptop and hard drive, but these are personal choices as you will have access to computer suites with all the software you’ll need for your projects.
How do I know which course to pursue?
We understand that choosing a degree can be difficult. Start by thinking about which area of media interests you, and what job you can see yourself doing in the future. You’ll then be able to see which of our courses match up best with your ambitions.
However, it’s important to remember that with most degrees the skills you learn are transferable to other disciplines and when you graduate with us, you’ll have learnt a full range of skills to prepare you enter this fast-paced industry.
