Biography

James Russell is an educator and visual artist based in Stockport. Predominantly now working in 3D creating visualisations for motion graphics, events and science communication. As well as 3D, he also has broad professional experience including work in illustration, creative technology, and events management.

His involvement in art & science communication includes projects such as Science in the House (2018-2021) which performed at multiple high profile festivals across the UK including Bluedot, The Manchester Science Festival & Green Man Festival. He was a 3D Animator on Prospect Planes (2018) working with Nobel prize winning Physicist Dr Kostya Novoselov and Artist/Curator Sarah Griffiths and which premiered as part of the Hexagon Experiment, Great Exhibition of the North. He is currently working on a public engagement collaboration with the University of Manchester to create an immersive installation using spatial audio and real-time game engine graphics.

He has also created visuals and bespoke graphics for a number of live artists and promotion companies including Acoustic Ladyland, Andrew Weatherall, Danny Howells, Marcus Intalex, Micron, Alex Smoke, Lychee Lassi.
