News Update

Customer Announcement

The University has made the decision to begin a phased reopening of the Sport Centre, the first phase starts on the 14th September 2020. Fitness Suites, Fitness classes and the Sports Hall will be reopening in first phase, however the Swimming Pool will remain closed.

During the first phase of the reopening the Sport Centre will only be open to University of Salford Students and Staff, with a further decision of extending this to the public coming later in the year.

There will also be a review later in the year regarding reopening the Swimming Pool.

We know for some of you that this isn’t the news you had been hoping for, however the Health and Safety of all our members is paramount and reducing membership use is needed to limit any chance of a COVID-19 spread.

All Student and Staff memberships will be reactivated from the 14th September, so please ensure you get in touch with us before then if you no longer require your membership.

All Alumni, Corporate memberships and Swimming memberships will remain frozen until further notice.

All up front memberships will be appropriately extended to compensate for lost months due to the period of closure.

If you require any further information please contact the Sports Centre Team on Sportleisure-Com@salford.ac.uk.

We cannot wait to welcome all the Students and Staff back to the Centre on the 14th September 2020 and hope to extend this to all members soon.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation

The Sports Centre, in partnership with the Sport Academic Faculty, have launched a New Cardiac Rehabilitation Phase 4 service. These are specialised group exercise sessions. Patients will be referred from the Cardiac Rehab Phase 3 Programme at Salford Royal, and local GP services, and there will also be additional 1-1 sessions for staff who have been through Cardiac Rehabilitation. (Staff should contact their GP first for clearance to exercise.)

In addition, Exercise Nutrition and Health Undergraduate students, and Clinical Exercise Physiology Post Grad students will get direct contact time under the guidance of our qualified staff in the Sports Centre, providing a unique industry link and valuable experience within the Phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation setting.
