MSc Clinical Exercise Physiology

Discover how exercise can be used to prevent, manage and treat long-term health conditions. This course combines the latest scientific research with practical application, enabling you to design and deliver exercise interventions for individuals living with cardiovascular, respiratory, metabolic and other chronic conditions. You’ll graduate with the knowledge to support health improvement and wellbeing through evidence-based practice. 

This programme is accredited by the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS), allowing you to register as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist on completion of all modules.

MSc Performance Analysis in Sport

Develop the analytical skills required to influence performance and decision-making in modern sport. This course explores how data and technology can be used to evaluate athletes, teams and coaching strategies. MSc Sport Injury Rehabilitation

Designed for those looking to specialise in injury management and recovery, this course develops your expertise in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries. You’ll explore contemporary rehabilitation techniques, clinical reasoning and return-to-performance decision making, while gaining practical experience that prepares you to work with athletes and active populations across a variety of settings.

MSc Sport Injury Rehabilitation and Athletic Training

Gain advanced expertise in the prevention, assessment and management of sports injuries while developing the practical skills required to support athletes in training and competition environments. Covering topics such as emergency care, injury rehabilitation, athlete monitoring and return-to-performance planning, this course prepares you for roles working directly with sports teams and athletes. 

The programme is accredited by the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers (BASRaT), enabling eligible graduates to apply to sit the BASRaT registration exam and pursue professional recognition within the UK and internationally.

MSc Strength and Conditioning

Develop the advanced knowledge and practical skills needed to support athletic performance across a range of sporting environments. This course explores the science underpinning strength and conditioning, including performance testing, programme design, biomechanics, physiology and athlete monitoring. Our facilities

When you choose one of our sport courses at Salford, you’ll have access to a range of specialist facilities that support learning, practical application and research. Depending on your chosen course, you’ll develop hands-on experience in industry-relevant environments designed to help you apply theory in practice. 

Our facilities include our Sport Science Laboratories, home to specialist teaching and research spaces such as the Human Performance Laboratory, where students investigate physiological responses to exercise, and the Strength and Conditioning Suite, which supports athlete testing, training and performance development.

Students on our clinical-focused programmes may also have opportunities to use the Clinical Exercise Physiology Laboratory, which supports teaching, research and public-facing physiological assessment and exercise testing services. Here, students can explore how exercise interventions are used to support individuals living with long-term health conditions while gaining experience in a specialist clinical environment.

Those studying rehabilitation-related disciplines can gain practical experience in our Sport Injury Clinic, working in a professional environment that supports injury assessment, treatment and recovery.
