Biography
After finishing my studies in Psychology (2004) and Media Studies (2006) I started my professional career as motion graphics designer for TV, commercials, and documentaries. After some years working in institutional and corporative communication (2009-2012) I started designing and delivery modules in Media Studies at different institutions. In 2013, after examining successfully of my PhD in Information Sciences and Communications, I moved to the UK as Lecturer in Digital Design for the University of Hull (Scarborough Campus). Since then, as a Media Studies researcher, I have explored extensively global markets for transnational products, combining qualitative and quantitative methodologies with a focus on the Japanese transmedia ecosystem.
Due to my experience in teaching Digital Media for the last 10 years, I have also developed a growing interest on XR and Immersive media which informed my current research projects.
A recent example is my work as consultant for the project LIFE AMDRY C4 directed by researchers at University of Murcia (Spain). This European funded project is aimed to raise awareness and fight against climate change and desertification in SE Spain. My worked consisted in designing and coordinating the development of an educational VR application that combined gamified environments and immersive storytelling. This experience (compatible with Google Cardboard) simulates the effect of agriculture on environment and social development of a fictional farm located in the South of Spain. This application is available at IOS and Android mobile application markets since February 2021.
I have developed and taught digital media programmes at the University of Hull in UK (2013-2021) and Spain, at Catholic University of Valencia (2013)
Currently I deliver teaching on the following modules within the BA(Hons) Digital Media programme:
- Introduction to Creative Play
- Designing for User Experience
- Digital Design Specialism
