Senior Lecturer in Social Work
I qualified as a social worker in 1988 and have worked in arrange of statutory children’s social work services. Since joining the University of Salford in 2005 I have held the roles of personal tutor; practice tutor; module leader (Levels 4 – 7); Programme Leader of the BA (Hons) Social Work Studies; member of the Faculty of health and Social Care Collaborative Learning Group (2008 – 2009).
I led the design of the Step Up to Social Work programme’ MA Social Work (Professional Practice) and am the current Project Lead and Programme Leader.
I am the Module Leader for three work based learning modules within the Step Up to Social Work MA; Evidencing Personal and Professional Practice; Research, Knowledge and Theory for Social Work; Professional Practice.
I contribute to modules across the suite of pre-qualifying social work programmes with input on Interprofessional Practice/Collaborative Working and Research Methods.
My research interests are concerned with collaborative practice between health and social care professionals and how these support service users. I have a particular interest in the barriers to communication and developing effective practice.
I am a member of the Interprofessional Learning Project which has implemented and is evaluating a six week practice based IPL programme for final year pre-qualifying students within the College of Health and Social Care.
I have been a member of the Research with Children, Young People and Families Research Group since 2012 and am a member of the Children and Young People’s Research Collaborative. Both groups sit within the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work.
