Nicola Nicholls

Teaching & Learning Intern (Podiatry)


Nicola qualified in 2001 with a BSc (Hons) Podiatry from the University of Huddersfield. She began her career working as a Senior II Podiatrist for Community Heath Sheffield. From there, Nicola worked for the Arthritis Research Campaign (ARC), based within the Epidemiology Unit at The University of Manchester, as a Research Assistant. Alongside working in Private Practice, Nicola has a wealth of experience within the NHS both in Community and within Biomechanics. She has worked as a Specialist Biomechanics Podiatrist for Liverpool Community Health and Bolton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, within the Musculoskeletal Therapy Department, before commencing as Clinical Lead at Bolton, working extensively in orthopaedics for both Adults and Paediatrics. 

Nicola started working for the University as a part time Clinical Tutor in 2016 and was appointed as a Teaching & Learning intern within Podiatry in 2017. Her current teaching responsibilities mainly lie within the area of musculoskeletal podiatry for both levels 5 & 6 of the BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme and is currently the Placement Tutor for level 5 & 6 Podiatry students.

Within Private practice, Nicola has worked with a variety of elite athletes and the Armed forces and continues to work for Premex + Services as an expert witness within medical negligence.

Nicola is hoping to complete her PhD within the area of teaching & Learning in Musculoskeletal Podiatry.
