Biography

In 1996 I graduated from the University of Salford with a degree in Design practice.  I have been working for the university for 16 years in 3d workshop facilities. Before my time at Salford, I worked as an Art/Design technician at Cheadle & Marple sixth form collage where I learnt many of my traditional fabrication skills. My main specialisms are fabricating wood, metal and plastics. In the last 15 years I have developed digital proto typing skills using 3d software and 3d prototyping hardware such as cnc, laser cutting and 3d printing. I have also worked in stop motion studios Cosgrove Hall & Hot Animation on kids tv programmes such as Bob the Builder, Pingu, Bill & Ben and Engie Benjy fabricating sets/props.

Research Interests

Discovering ways of integrating digital technology into hard edge product/prop design models/prototypes. Finding new prototyping process’s using/combining 3d printing/laser cutting. I like to collaborate with different creative departments in the university to expand my knowledge in these areas.
