Biography

In 1996 I graduated from the University of Salford with a degree in Design Practice. I have been working for the University for sixteen years in the 3D Workshop facilities.

Before my time at Salford, I worked as an Art and Design Technician at Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College, where I learned many of my traditional fabrication skills. My specialisms are fabricating wood, metal and plastics. Over the last fifteen years I have developed digital prototyping skills using 3D software and 3D prototyping hardware such as CNC, laser cutting and 3D printing. I have also worked in stop motion studios Cosgrove Hall and Hot Animation on children's television such as Bob the Builder, Pingu, Bill & Ben and Engie Benjy, fabricating sets and props.

Qualifications and Memberships

  • BA (Hons) Design Practice – Spatial Design

Research Interests

Discovering ways of integrating digital technology into hard edge product/prop design models/prototypes. Finding new prototyping process’s using/combining 3d printing/laser cutting. I like to collaborate with different creative departments in the university to expand my knowledge in these areas.
