Lecturer in Construction Education

Biography

Prior to joining University of Salford in August 2019, Teslim worked at Bridgwater and Taunton college (BTC) as a course leader and curriculum manager in the construction professions department and taught variety of courses on FE and HE programmes.  These include, construction management, construction project management, sustainable construction, construction technology, civil engineering technology, contractual procedures, contract law, health and safety, legal and statutory responsibilities, science and material.  During this time, Teslim led civil, construction, town planning and apprenticeship pathways and monitored the Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) process within these programmes as the Lead Internal Verifier for two years. As a result, Teslim has worked with several apprentices and key employers within the construction sector, to deliver higher and advanced apprenticeship qualifications and has achieved a high success rate. Prior to joining BTC, Teslim undertook his doctoral and master’s degree at the University of the West of England (UWE), where he taught and supported MSc construction project management student on a range of modules. Teslim has over 12 years industry experience and has worked with government, contractors, consultant and key stakeholders to deliver major highway and drainage schemes in Nigeria. Teslim has keen interest in life cycle assessment, management and maintenance of infrastructures. His research is focused on integrating life cycle assessment into bridge maintenance methods and his keen to introduce management tools (e.g. Bridge Management System) to developing countries to enhance the longevity of existing and emerging structures and strategically shift the maintenance culture with a focus on sustainability and life cycle assessment approach.
