Biography
I have a clinical back ground in Trauma and Accident and Emergency care. Previous posts include that of Senior Sister in Accident and Emergency and Clinical Nurse manager for Accident and Emergency/Nurse Led Minor Injury Service and Theatres in North West National Health Service Hospitals.
Whilst working in practice I have played a part in developing patient focused services, such as nurse led minor injury services and flexible operation day surgery services. My role as clinical nurse manager included staff development of an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality coordinated services. This teaching and development of others led me to my current role within the School of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Care at the University of Salford.
My interests lie in emergency care, leadership and management and clinical skills. I teach across all fields of practice, teaching both pre and post registration students. I am working to achieve my PhD, focusing on ‘physical assessment of the mental health patient in the acute mental health in- patient settings’.
I am co-program lead for the Pre Registration MA in Nursing (Adult, CYP and M/H fields of practice.

I teach across all fields of practice and in most modules on the Pre Registration MA Nursing program. The Program has a blended learning approach and includes teaching to both large and small groups of students. Teaching subjects cover nursing theory and practice including clinical simulation.
I am currently working towards my Phd by publication. My interest is the delivery of physical health care for those with mental health illnesses, and the use of simulation to assist mental health nurses to develop clinical skills.
Postgraduate Research
I supervise students on my own program of study to with their dissertations at Masters level.
