BIOGRAPHY

I am a provider and educator in medical, vocational and sport rehabilitation. My early career was providing musculoskeletal rehabilitation for a diverse range of clients. This led to my current role as an academic and clinic director within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Salford. Within this role, I lecture, direct and manage clinical services within an integrated healthcare team that includes Sport Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, and Exercise Specialists. I have also played a key role in the development of Rehabilitation programmes at numerous UK Universities as well as several international institutions.

As the chairman of the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers, I have represented this profession nationally and globally, including working in the UK with the Health Professions Council and the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence as well as the development of National Occupational Standards in Sports Therapy and Exercise and allied areas. I currently sit on the US task force looking at global standards in athletic training that is headed up by the US based Board of Certification and National Athletic Trainers Association, working with more than 20 countries to develop truly global standards in this field. My previous positions include Vice President of the European Society of Athletic Training and Therapy, board member and trustee of the UK Rehabilitation Council and a member of the UK National Exercise Referral Advisory Panel.

I am passionate about continuing to develop quality provision of sports and exercise medicine healthcare and musculoskeletal rehabilitation both nationally and globally as well as the further promotion of the multidisciplinary integrated healthcare team.
