BIOGRAPHY

Moira has over 28 years experience in the BBC, working as a television producer and series producer on a variety of shows from current affairs to children’s programmes and from fast-paced live and topical studio-based shows to documentary film-making. During her last four years at the BBC, Moira worked at the BBC Academy as a trainer and facilitator, designing and delivering workshops and courses to BBC staff in areas such as audience insight, creative thinking and pitching ideas; she also designed the Production Foundation Programme, a project designed to identify training needs and training outcomes for all BBC production staff.

Passionate about passing on media skills, over the past 10 years Moira has built up a wide-ranging freelance portfolio in media training, coaching and mentoring. Moira’s speciality is in the running of bootcamps for entry-level production and digital trainees.  She is a firm believer in including people skills alongside creativity and business skills, all of which adds to the “employability” of the trainees.  The vast majority of Moira’s former trainees are still in full-time employment and some of them run their own successful production companies.

She  has also worked for ITV, BBC Academy, IBC, Northern Ireland Screen, ILBF, Ulster University and Creative Skillset, amongst others. Moira is currently a lecturer at Salford University on their BA in Television and Radio course, where she teaches TV Studios and Professional Practice. She runs workshops in team building and personality profiling and is a trained MBTI© assessor and accredited trainer in DiSC©
