Current positions

Programme Leader: BA (Hons) Digital Design

BIOGRAPHY

First employed by the UoS in 1996 working as a part-time Demonstrator with the School of Art & Design specializing in video editing and working with students across the School’s portfolio of courses.

Went on to full employment as a Demonstrator working in video and interactive production.  Saw the development through from analogue to digital editing systems and helped to develop and install digital editing capabilities on desktop.

Employed in 1998 to coordinate and deliver both digital editing and interactive content on the BA (Hons) Graphic Design Course whilst still servicing other courses within the School.

Worked on various projects for the University including the development of an interactive prospectus for the School and digital material for shows material both motion and interactive (2000).

In 2003 employed as a Lecturer in Graphic Design… primarily as a new media designer then later on taking on the role of Level 5 coordinator for the programme.  During this time awarded PGCert.

In 2009 took on the role of Programme Leader for Design for Digital Media developing both motion and interactive content embedded in creative convergent digital strategies.  Have worked with projects alongside the BBC, TBWA, McCanns, PZ Cussons amongst others…. Continuing the quest for the creative deployment of ‘immersive’ digital content.

Presently creating links and strategies with creatives exploring the potential and channels of digital content both nationally and internationally.

Teaching

Primary role is teaching… particularly developing concepts and ideas onto both moving and interactive platforms.  Very keen on the development of joint partnerships with industry and the development of embedded programme and School curriculum in the digital creative sector.

Research Interests

Currently developing a MPhil investigating the balance and role of digital content in User Experience Design… engagement, entertainment and education.  Interested in developing ‘real-time’ immersive experiences within both a gallery and commercial context.
