BIOGRAPHY
Kostas Chaldoupis is a Lecturer in Procurement and Logistics at the Salford Business School. Kostas joined Salford Business School in October 2014 after an industrial career in management consultancy and marketing.
He has conducted business plans and projects for private and public sector, for companies and institutions, which had eligibility for support under EU Business Programmes, for research and innovation funding, competitiveness, and further investment.
Kostas joined initially as a PhD candidate in Supply Chain Management. His research examines the implementation of innovative technologies in the manufacturing sector such as Additive Manufacturing – 3D Printing in the healthcare sector.

Teaching falls within the broader areas of Procurement and Logistics and particular in the areas of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management and Project Risk and Procurement Management. Kostas is also a supervisor for a number of postgraduate internship placements projects.
His research is within the fields of Procurement and Logistics, Operations Management and Supply Chain Management. Kostas has a particular interest in innovative technologies and Additive Manufacturing - 3D Printing. He currently examines implementation issues and new business models of the technology within the manufacturing sector and specifically in the healthcare sector. His interests include Additive Manufacturing and distributed manufacturing, applications of the technology on spare parts supply chain, implications of Additive Manufacturing in relation to intellectual property and supply chain innovations.
Qualifications
- PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management.
- PhD Thesis title: Additive Manufacturing Implementation in Healthcare Systems: A Supply Chain Perspective.
- Kostas holds a Master in Marketing (MSc) and a BA (Hons) in Business Studies. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM). He holds the CIM. Professional Postgraduate Diploma.
