BIOGRAPHY

I graduated from the University of East Anglia in 1983 and then went to The College of Law in London to complete my Solicitors’ Final Examinations in 1984. I was admitted as a solicitor in 1986, and practised as a commercial property solicitor in London and East Anglia until 1994 when I decided on a career change and joined Anglia Polytechnic University (now Anglia Ruskin University) as a law lecturer. I taught on various courses at Anglia, including the LLB and Legal Practice Course, as well as supervising dissertations at all levels, with my main teaching interests being business law, property law, IT Law and law of succession. Following completion of my LLM in IT & Telecommunications Law from the University of Strathclyde in 1999, I undertook research in the areas of IT law and technology supported learning and in 2003 was awarded a university research sabbatical.

In 2004 I moved to City University, London as a senior lecturer on their Excellent rated LPC. I was module leader for Business Law & Practice, eCommerce and Private Client as well as a member of the LPC management team and of the Law School ICT Sub-committee.  During my time at City University I was appointed as an e-learning champion to support and promote the development of technology supported learning in the Law School.

In January 2009 I joined Staffordshire University as Learning & Teaching Director in the Law School. In this role I had strategic responsibility for learning and teaching as well as research, enterprise and scholarly activity, and chaired relevant School committees as well as being a member of various University committees. In December 2011 I became Acting Dean of the Law School and following a University restructure in August 2012 I was appointed as Head of the Law School. In this role, I was a member of the Faculty Management Team in the Faculty of Business, Education and Law. I also taught company law, intellectual property law and commercial property, and continued to carry out research in the areas of company law, IT law, and the future of the legal profession and legal education.

In October 2014 I joined the University of Salford as a lecturer in law in the Salford Business School
