Senior Lecturer


  • 1993 – present: Lecturer/senior Lecturer in Building Services Engineering  
  • 1990 – 1992: MSc in M&E Building Services Engineering (University of Glasgow)
  • 1984 – 1993: Graduate Trainee/Higher Engineer/Senior Engineer, Dept. of the Environment – Property Services Agency (PSA) specialising in Mechanical & Electrical Building Services Engineering
  • 1980 – 1984: BSc in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1978 – 1980: HNC in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1976 – 1978: ONC in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1976 – 1980: 4 year apprenticeship as maintenance fitter

4 year apprenticeship with PSA in the maintenance of mechanical Building Services installations followed by a 4 year full-time BSc in Mechanical Engineering led me to undertake a graduate trainee position with PSA at their Scottish HQ in Edinburgh where I rose to the position of Senior M&E Engineer. Involved in all aspects of the design, installation and maintenance of both mechanical and electrical Building Services including heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, low voltage/medium voltage/high voltage electrical power supplies, lighting, fire systems, acoustics and more. Moved to the University of Salford in 1994 to teach the design of both M&E Building Services at UG and PGT levels.
