Biography
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist specialising in Soft Tissue Therapy. I am particularly adept at managing athletes through game day and training situations so that where possible they can continue with the activity. I have worked in Premiership Rugby and Football and in my own sport, Ice Hockey, as well as with the GB National Teams for Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, Diving, Wheelchair Rugby, and with the England Cricket Team. I was part of the organising committee medical team at the London Olympics where I worked in the Polyclinic within the Athletes Village and the Athens Olympics where I worked with the fighting sports. For the Commonwealth games in Manchester I was based at the Aquatic Centre and in Glasgow I was trackside at Athletics. The ‘friendly’ games of 2002 & 2014 were unique in that the able bodied and disability competitions were held simultaneously which gave me the opportunity to work with a wide range of Elite Sports men and women assisting many medal winners with their preparation. At the 2012 Paralympics I worked with Wheelchair Basketball and Wheelchair Rugby providing emergency aid when required.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy in addition to qualifications in Sports Therapy, Sports Massage, Holistic Therapies and Resuscitation and Emergency Management On field (REMO) and I am keen to pass on my skills to others through my teaching work.
I have taught massage and manual therapy at University level and at Further Education Colleges and in the private sector. I hold a qualification in Further and Adult Education.
