Animation, Fashion and Interior Design courses named as some of the best in the country

The University of Salford has been named as one of the best universities in the country to study Animation, Fashion and Interior Design.

All three Salford undergraduate programmes were named within the top 15 for their respective subject areas with Animation named as the sixth best in the country, according to The Guardian 2024 University Guide.

The Animation programme rose 13 places from last year’s guide and is the second-highest rated undergraduate course at subject level that the University of Salford offers according to the newly published guide.

Our Fashion programmes (which include Fashion Design, Fashion Image Making and Styling & Fashion Business and Promotion) maintain their spot as the 11th best undergraduate  in the country whilst Interior Design has also risen from 18th to 14th in this year’s edition.

Professor Allan Walker, Dean of the School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology said: "We are delighted to receive this recognition of the fantastic work of our staff and students year after year as we cement our reputation as one of the leaders in practice-based education for the creative industries.

"These courses are taught by experienced and highly motivated academics who are skilled in providing out students with the best possible chance of a career in their chosen industry and we are delighted to see their hard work rewarded in these rankings.

"Our Animation programme continues to go from strength to strength and recently secured a partnership with the Aardman Academy that will provide our students with access to world-class learning from within the animation industry."

Other programme highlights from the guide include the Politics programme rising 26 places to 20th, Journalism rising from 31st to 19th and our Creative Writing programme was also named as the 17th best course in the country.
