COVID SECURE MEASURES

Your safety is of paramount importance to us, and we are taking measures to ensure that all graduates, guests and staff feel comfortable and safe when attending Graduation. We are following the latest Government guidance in all our event planning as well as University policy. Once we have confirmation of the measures that we will have in place, they will be displayed here and you will also be emailed regarding this prior to your Graduation Day. All graduates and guests attending Graduation are required to adhere to any Covid secure measures in place, unless medically exempt. Those that do not adhere to the measures in place may be removed from the event.

VISAS

If you are an international student or you have guests coming from abroad to share this special occasion, please ensure you have the necessary permissions to be in the UK, both for yourself and your visitors.

We would encourage you to allow appropriate time for your visa applications, taking into consideration the time to process the ‘proof of study letter’ you require from the University.

GUESTS

All graduates who register to attend will be able to request up to 2 complimentary guest tickets.

Unfortunately, we will not be able to release any additional tickets for Winter Graduation.

LIVE STREAM

A live stream of all ceremonies will be shown on campus at Peel Hall in the Peel Building. This is free of charge; no booking is required. The live stream can also be viewed on the University of Salford Youtube channel.

CHILDREN

Children are welcome at the ceremonies, however sometimes they can prove to be too long for younger children who may become restless. For the comfort of other guests, guardians may be asked to take any child that becomes agitated or distressed out of the Theatre to the foyer area.

Children over 2 years of age must have their own seat in the Theatre and therefore must be included in your complimentary guest numbers (max of 2).

Children up to the age of 2 may sit on an adult’s lap and will require a free ‘Child Under 2’ ticket which you can to the access requirements notes on the Registration booking pages or alternatively by contacting the Graduation Office on grad-acd@salford.ac.uk or 0161 295 2313/ 5241/2003. This is due to Health and Safety regulations that require all participants and guests at the ceremonies to be seated.

Children under the age of 16 are not allowed into the Theatre without being accompanied by an adult in the seating area. Alternatively, there will be a nursery available supervised by fully trained staff. Please note that the nursery is at Jack Goldberg Building on the Frederick Road Campus at the University of Salford and you will need to make arrangements with the Nursery Manager regarding sessions and availability of places. There will be a charge for this service and places are limited. Please allow enough time to drop your child off prior to the ceremony.

Contact details for the nursery are: Busy Bees at the University of Salford Statham Street Salford, M6 6PU

  • You have not been successfully awarded at an examination board;
  • You have not completed your studies or you are due to re-sit or resubmit any part of your programme;
  • You have outstanding debts owed to the University of Salford.

(Engineering students who opt to continue onto the MEng are not eligible to graduate with a BEng - students are only allowed to obtain one qualification from MEng/BEng programmes.)

I AM UNSURE IF I HAVE ANY OUTSTANDING DEBTS TO THE UNIVERSITY. HOW DO I CHECK?

Please check with the Income and Treasury Management team on income-treasury@salford.ac.uk if you are unsure whether you owe debt to the University. Any student who is in debt to the University will not be allowed to attend their Graduation ceremony.  All debts must be cleared by 29 October 2021 (please allow sufficient time for any cheques to clear by this date).

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF GRADUATION; WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Our registration emails have not yet been sent. All eligible Graduates will receive an email inviting them to register for Graduation at the beginning of October.

I AM IN MY FINAL YEAR AND DUE TO GRADUATE. CAN I STILL APPEAL?

If you submit an appeal, you may still attend the Graduation celebration ceremony if the Board of Examiners has confirmed an award. The current award/classification will appear in the Graduation brochure. If your degree classification changes as a result of a successful appeal, you will be asked to return any degree certificate which has been issued before you can collect a revised certificate.
