Applicant Visit Day - Thank you for booking

Thank you for booking your place on an Applicant Visit Day!

Around two weeks before your event, we will email you with a full schedule of the day. This will include what to expect during your subject session and how the day will work. We'll also provide information on how to find us and what to do when you arrive on campus.

We look forward to meeting you in person soon, but in the meantime we have provided some information about the University, planning your day and how to get in touch with us.

Where on Earth is Salford?

Planning your day

When you arrive on campus for your Applicant Visit Day, you will be directed to a check-in location. To check-in, you need to provide your QR code (this will be sent to you via email several days before the event), where you will then be given a schedule for the day, as well as a copy of your course specific session. We will also provide some freebies and point you in the right direction.

It is important you make sure to check-in when you arrive as you can then claim some money back towards the cost of your travel. The financial cost of travelling can add up quickly, so we'd like to offset some of the cost of travelling to your Applicant Visit Day. If you live in Greater Manchester, we'll contribute £20 to the cost of your visit; for anyone coming from further afield, we'll contribute £50. You can find out more about the Applicant Visit Day Travel Bursary but all you need to do is turn up on the day, make sure to check-in by scanning your QR code and we will then get in touch a few days after. Terms and conditions apply, you can find out more information about the Travel Bursary Scheme terms and conditions.

Weekday event

If you are joining us on a weekday, then you should have already booked your optional sessions and received an email confirming these. A week before the event we will email you an RSVP link and you will be able to amend your sessions if you have changed your mind about the ones you would like to attend.

For the weekday sessions, you will be based on Peel Park campus in the morning and we will take you to and from each of the optional sessions. The optional sessions take place at 09:45, 10:30, 11:15 and 12:00 and we will also serve tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day. Following the final optional session, we will provide you a free lunch, before directing you to our Life at Salford talk at 13:30.

At 14:00 your course session will begin and last approximately two hours. If your session takes place on Frederick Road or MediaCity campuses, we will take you there via coach.

If you prefer not to attend any of the optional morning sessions, you can join us in the afternoon. We recommend you arrive no later than 13:00 so you can join the Life at Salford talk, after which we will then take you to your course session.

Weekend event

For the weekend events, you will be directed straight to the campus which your course is taught on. You do not need to book any optional sessions in advance and can select which sessions to join on the day. The optional sessions are the same on a weekday and a weekend so it doesn't matter which you choose to attend.

On a weekend, course sessions will take place at either 10:30 or 13:30. We will provide this information around two weeks before the event. If your course session takes place in the morning, you will be able to attend the optional sessions in the afternoon. If your course session takes place in the afternoon, you will be able to attend the optional sessions in the morning.

How to find us

Please note, the University car parks are likely to be very busy at the Applicant Visit Days, so where possible we would encourage you to consider public transport options.

By car

On the day of the Applicant Visit Day, there will be parking available in our Peel Park and Frederick Road campus car parks. We do not have University parking at our MediaCity campus but will provide coaches between MediaCity and Peel Park campus on the day.

On a weekday event, the morning sessions all take place on Peel Park campus, so we suggest you use the Lowry and Delaney car parks (M5 4NJ), or Irwell Place car park (postcode M5 4WT).

If you are planning on attending in the afternoon only and your course is taught on our Frederick Road campus, please use Mary Seacole car park (accessed from Broad Street/the A6) or Allerton car park (accessed from Frederick Road). For both these car parks, use postcode M6 6PU.

If you would prefer to park at MediaCity, you should use the Garage car park (M50 2HE).

By public transport

If your course is taught on Peel Park or Frederick Road campuses, we are easily accessible by train and bus, with Salford Crescent train station located directly on the campus.

If your subject is taught on MediaCity campus, we are easily accessible by tram and bus, with services direct to MediaCity and services that stop walking distance from MediaCity.
