The world-class robotics facilities at the University of Salford are supported by one of the largest robotics research groups in Europe and the hands on expertise of specialist technical staff.
The facilities serve the robotics groups’ wide range of research interests. They also play a large role in our postgraduate robotics programmes, offering students the opportunity to gain invaluable practical experience of working in these unique spaces.
North of England Robotics Innovation Centre (NERIC)
At the University of Salford, work has begun on the £16 million NERIC that is due to open in 2022. The new facility is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund, with additional support from Research England, and will serve as a hub for small to medium-sized industries (SMEs) looking to design, test and validate innovation in this rapidly growing area.
Autonomous Systems & Advanced Robotics (ASAR)
ASAR is an internationally leading Research Centre with excellence in Soft Robotics, AI, embodied intelligence and cognition, automation, robot/machine design, dexterous end effectors, legged robots, biologically-inspired robots, haptics/telepresence, Human Robot Interaction, rehabilitation robotics, cognitive robotics and uninhabited autonomous systems.
