Explore Midwifery
Being a midwife is a rewarding job. It offers many opportunities and a special role in healthcare. Midwives give expert care that fits each birthing individual's needs. They help deliver babies and provide high-quality care to patients and babies all over the world.
As a student, you’ll learn about midwifery from experienced tutors and clinicians who are committed to the best midwifery education, practice, and research.
Salford was one of the first UK universities to get a special recognition from the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) called the Baby Friendly accreditation. In 2015, we got this recognition again with the highest score ever given. UNICEF complimented our midwifery staff and students for their knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm.
If you study midwifery at the University of Salford, you’ll learn how to support the natural process of childbirth. You’ll also learn how to provide safe, evidence-based care for individuals giving birth and babies during pregnancy, birth, and after.

Senior Lecturer in Midwifery, Sarah Davies, celebrated this heartwarming connection on social media, applauding Declan's support and photography skills during the birth.
Anna, Sarah's daughter and the new mother, expressed deep gratitude for Declan's presence and the beautiful photos he captured. Reflecting on the experience, Declan shared his joy in being part of such a special moment and his appreciation for the welcoming family.
