Tim France
Tim France, Director of Performance, Music, English and Dance, is a member of the University judging panel for the annual Create Student Awards.
Tim is a professional musician with over 30 years of experience as a performer, recording artist, educator, and arts leader. His career includes extensive touring throughout the UK and Europe, with work spanning studio albums, live broadcasts, and film soundtracks across a wide range of musical contexts.
He has collaborated with an exceptional roster of internationally recognised artists, including Bryan Ferry, Lorna Luft, Hamish Stuart, and jazz vocalist Todd Gordon, alongside leading figures from the contemporary jazz scene such as Julian Arguelles and Arild Andersen. Orchestral highlights include performances with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and Ricardo Afonso. His film credits include work on RKO‑281, starring John Malkovich, Melanie Griffith, and Liev Schreiber.
In addition to his performance career, Tim is the Higher Education Advisor for the Greater Manchester Music Hub, contributing strategic insight into progression routes, sector partnerships, and curriculum development. He has delivered lectures and professional workshops internationally, with engagements ranging from St Petersburg to Tennessee, working with students, educators, and practitioners across higher education and the wider creative industries.
