BIOGRAPHY
As the Illustration Subject Leader at The University of Salford, I have established Salford as a unique and exciting place to study illustration. Previous posts include Illustration Subject Leader at Norwich School of Art and Design, and Senior Lecturer, Visual Communication Design at Middlesex University.
Having worked as an illustrator since graduation with BA (Hons) in Graphic Design (1st class) from Maidstone College of Art in 1981 and MA Illustration from the Royal College of Art in 1984; My clients include major international newspapers, magazines, book publishers, design companies and advertising agencies.
My focus is evolving unique curriculum content based on our physical environment, the people who live and work there, its history and future. At Salford we are able to explore the unique potential of our location. The city is a microcosm of urban life, historic and contemporary, providing the students with the perfect subject matter to develop their visual language. Through this microcosm we are able explore and comment on and to the world we live in.
My research interests focus on the use of drawing as a fundamental tool for the creative practitioner as means of Documenting recording articulating and exploring thoughts, ideas and concepts.
