Biography 

Emeka is a Teaching Fellow in Architectural Technology at University of Salford. Emeka’s responsibilities include: (1) Teaching and Learning; (2) Pastoral Care; (3) Supervision, Assessment and Feedback; (4) Leadership, Management and Engagement; (5) Research; (6) Administration; and (7) Other responsibilities.

He is: A Second-Generation Academic, Researcher and Consultant; A Steering Committee Member and The Treasurer of the CIBSE Energy Performance Group; Director (Editor) of Carbon Bites and Carbon Sound-Bites; Vice-Chair of the CIBSE ASHRAE Group; A Fellow of Leeds Sustainability Institute; A Doctor of Engineering (DEng) Researcher; An Academician of Academy of Urbanism (AoU); A Fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA); The First-Ever Energy Globe World Award for Sustainability Ambassador to UK; A Fellow of Forum for Built Environment (FFB); A Chartered Scientist (CSci); and A Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv).

Emeka’s areas of research include: Architectural Technology; BIM; Building Performance Evaluation; Building Services Engineering; Built Healthcare Environment Modelling, Simulation and Visualisation; Energy Certification Compliance; Energy Efficiency; Sustainability; Sustainable Architecture; Sustainable Construction; and Urban Sustainability of Public Buildings.

He improves his expertise via Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and he is involved in: Teaching and Distance Learning, E-Learning and Blended Learning; Pastoral Care; Supervision; Assessment; Feedback; Research Projects; and Stakeholder Engagement. Emeka’s previous appointments include: Tutor; IBPSA-England Board Member and Editor; Journal of Building Performance Simulation 3(3) Guest Editor; PEnvD Chair; Architecture Visiting Professor; Loughborough University Research Associate; Professor Ghassan Aouad’s Research Assistant; and Apprentice to greats, such as his Professor and Head of Department Dad, Senior Nursing Sister Mum, family, friends, colleagues, and collaborators.  

Emeka is/was a Committee Member of: Chevening Assessors; ASHRAE Buildings Environmental Impacts and Sustainability; The CIBSE Resilient Cities Group; The CIBSE ASHRAE Group; and The CIBSE Energy Performance Group.

Emeka is/was a Member of: The British Council Academic Review and Selection Panel; and The Design Review Panel. Emeka is/was a Reviewer for: Macmillan Cancer Support; 22 International Journals; and The UK National Commission for UNESCO Newton Prize. He is/was also: A School Governor; Editorial Board Member (over 7x); Scientific Committee Member (over 46x); and Technical Assessor for the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Research Interests

Emeka has been involved as a Researcher, Consultant, Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator (Co-PI) in: (1) Funded projects; (2) Stakeholder engagement and partnership building by securing contributions-in-kind and letters of support from organisations; and (3) Analyses of quantitative, qualitative, comparative, Building Performance Simulation, and Energy Certification Compliance data by using appropriate tools.

Emeka’s research interests include: (1) Architectural Technology; (2) BIM; (3) Building Performance Evaluation; (4) Building Services Engineering; (5) Energy Certification Compliance; (6) Energy Efficiency; (7) Sustainable Architecture; (8) Sustainable Construction; and (9) Urban Sustainability of Public Buildings.
