Visas
If you are an international student or you have guests coming from abroad to share this special occasion, please ensure you have the necessary permissions to be in the UK, both for yourself and your visitors.
We would encourage you to allow appropriate time for your visa applications, taking into consideration the time to process the ‘proof of study letter’ you require from the University.
Further information regarding visas.
Guests
All graduates who register to attend will be able to request up to 2 complimentary guest tickets.
If we are able to do so, we will sell additional tickets closer to the ceremony dates and you will be informed via email. Please note the sale of additional tickets is not guaranteed.
All graduation ceremonies are live streamed via our YouTube channel and also at the Media City campus. Please do bring additional guests along with you on your special day to support and celebrate with you, they will be able to watch the live stream of the ceremonies at the Media City campus, if they do not have tickets for the theatre. This is free of charge and no booking is required. Once the ceremony closes, they can re-join you outside the Lowry for photos and any further celebrations you may have planned.
Occasionally we have additional tickets available on the day however, this is not guaranteed. If tickets are available, they will be sold on a first come, first served basis, priced at £16 each. Please ask at the Ticket Desk on the day if there are any available when you collect your complimentary guest tickets.
Please note all complimentary guest tickets requested are accounted for, this is about additional guest tickets.
Children
Children are welcome at the ceremonies, however sometimes they can prove to be too long for younger children who may become restless. For the comfort of other guests, guardians may be asked to take any child that becomes agitated or distressed out of the theatre.
Children over 2 years of age must have their own seat and therefore must be included in your complimentary guest numbers (max of 2).
Children up to the age of 2 may sit on an adult’s lap and will require a free ‘Child Under 2’ ticket which you can to the access requirements notes on the Registration booking pages or alternatively by contacting the Graduation Office on grad-acd@salford.ac.uk or +44 (0)161 295 2313. This is due to Health and Safety regulations that require all participants and guests at the ceremonies to be seated.
Children under the age of 16 are not allowed into the theatre without being accompanied by an adult in the seating area. Alternatively, there will be a nursery available supervised by fully trained staff. Please note that the nursery is at Jack Goldberg Building on the Frederick Road Campus at the University of Salford and you will need to make arrangements with the Nursery Manager regarding sessions and availability of places. There will be a charge for this service and places are limited. Please allow enough time to drop your child off prior to the ceremony.
Contact details for the nursery are:

(Engineering students who opt to continue onto the MEng are not eligible to graduate with a BEng - students are only allowed to obtain one qualification from MEng/BEng programmes.)
I am unsure if I have any outstanding debts to the University. How do I check?
Please check with the Income and Treasury Management team on income-treasury@salford.ac.uk if you are unsure whether you owe debt to the University. Any student who is in debt to the University will not be allowed to attend their Graduation ceremony.
You must also return all library books before graduating, as these are classed as debts.
I am in my final year and due to graduate. Can I still appeal?
If you submit an appeal, you may still attend the Graduation celebration ceremony if the Board of Examiners has confirmed an award. The current award/classification will appear in the Graduation brochure. If your degree classification changes as a result of a successful appeal, you will be asked to return any degree certificate which has been issued before you can collect a revised certificate.
