Our clinics are open to open to the public and provide our students with invaluable hands-on experience.

Podiatry clinic

Under the supervision of fully trained academic staff, our students use state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to provide a wide range of treatments to members of the public. The Podiatry Clinic is open to everyone and is designed to give our students hands on experience. Services include:

  • Podiatry assessment and management
  • Nail surgery
  • Gait analysis and assessment of sports injuries
  • Orthoses management and provision
  • Podo-paediatrics (biomechanical assessment of children’s feet)

Running performance clinic

Our Running Performance Clinic is aimed at runners of all levels who want to recover from injury, improve their running performance and learn more about their running style.

We work collaboratively with the Manchester Institute of Health & Performance to give you access to one of the most comprehensive running gait analysis assessments available globally. We also offer treadmill running assessments and the Run Better programme, a guided training programme and biomedical assessment aimed at runners who are, for example, looking to improve their personal best running time.

Sports Injury Clinic

Sport injury clinic

The Sports Injury Clinic is staffed by undergraduate sport rehabilitation students under the supervision of a clinical member of staff. The clinic is open to everyone and offers a full range of rehabilitation services including:

  • Injury assessment and rehabilitation
  • Musculoskeletal screening and postural assessment
  • Injury prevention and performance enhancement programmes
  • Exercise programmes
  • Sports massage
  • Health education

Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre

Our specialist counselling suite is used to train students to become professional counsellors and psychotherapists. We will work with members of the local community and charities so that they can access this facility and room hire is available. The suite features therapeutic areas where one-to-one, family and group interactions can take place. 

Counselling Service

We provide general counselling services for adults who live or work in Greater Manchester for a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, stress, bereavement and loss. We also provide a specialist service for those who have experienced mental health difficulties resulting from domestic violence. For more information on the counselling service, visit the web page
