Television and Radio Production Awards
Celebrating our students
The BAFTARS is a major celebratory live event entirely organised and produced by the students, offering a vibrant showcase of work across all levels. While the spotlight naturally falls on the final-year cohort, with Level 6 students taking charge of the show’s central creative and managerial roles—such as directing and production management—Level 5 students support every department in substantial subsidiary roles, and Level 4 students gain hands-on experience as runners, camera operators, and technical assistants. Together, they deliver an ambitious, large-scale production that reflects the breadth of the BA Television and Radio Production community.
Staff, School of Arts and Media dignitaries, and invited industry guests join the celebration, with award nominations curated by staff and winners selected by external specialists who also deliver the announcements. Alongside the ceremony itself, students create a range of VTs, from graduate updates to light-hearted sketches that capture the spirit and versatility of the course. The in-house band, Run PMC, provides live music and award stings throughout the evening, and the event is simultaneously broadcast on Utter Radio, complete with student-led interviews and social-media coverage.
