What to expect on the day
- The launch event will open between 17:30 and 20:30. Guests are welcome to move around the building at their own leisure throughout the evening.
- The building will be clearly mapped out and easy to navigate. University staff members and student ambassadors will be stationed throughout the building to assist with wayfinding if required.
- On opening night, the Degree Show typically welcomes around 1,500 guests. The busiest period is usually between 17:30 and 19:00. Please note, this is based on previous years and cannot be guaranteed.
What to expect inside the building
- The building will be filled with the fabulous creative work from School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology students, with different subjects’ exhibitions located on each floor. Feel free to move around the building at your own pace.
- Staff and Student Ambassadors will be positioned throughout the spaces, including near restricted areas, to help with navigation and guidance for visitors.
- Music will be played through speakers across the building at a moderate volume. General crowd noise and conversation may also be noticeable, particularly during the busier periods.
- There will be a variation of lighting conditions throughout the Degree Show. Some areas will be naturally lit, while others may include artificial LED lighting and digital screens of varying sizes.
- Whilst moving around the exhibitions, please keep in mind that students have worked incredibly hard on their projects. We kindly ask that all artwork is respected and that visitors do not touch or lean on any displayed pieces.
- There are no planned fire alarms taking place during the Degree Show. If the fire alarm sounds, please report to the assembly point at Chapman Square, located near the Engles Beard sculpture. Staff will be on site to guide guests out of the nearest fire exit.
