Car parking
You must have a valid parking session, a pay and display ticket, or display a valid Blue Badge on arrival when parking on any of our campus car parks. Motor vehicles (including motor cycles, motor scooters and mopeds) may be parked at the University only in the official car parks and then only in the spaces marked out for parking.
Visitors are encouraged to travel to the University by public transport where possible. Information on travel and electric vehicle charging can be found on our Environmental Sustainability Travel page.
There are improvement works currently taking place across our campuses and around Salford which may cause delays to your journey, especially if you travel by car. Please allow extra time for your journey, and take a look at our travel updates and building works page to see more about current and upcoming works and how they might impact you. You can also visit the travel page to find alternative transport options for getting here by train, bus, bike and e-scooter.
All car park users are expected to observe the University’s parking restrictions. Parking restrictions and penalties are displayed on notices across the university estate and also in the car parking policy. Failure to adhere to this policy is likely to result in the issue of a Parking Charge Notice (PCN).
Parking charges
You can pay for parking online via ParkUS or in person at pay and display machines. Students and staff receive discounted rates only when paying via ParkUs. Find out rates and more on our car parking charges page.
Please be vigilant when making payments via QR codes or ticket machines – only use official links and on-site devices. A small number of incidents of fraud have been reported by parking authorities in the South of England. If you notice anything suspicious, please report it to estates-supportteam@salford.ac.uk.
Paying online via ParkUs
Access the ParkUs website to pay for your parking online. You can also add the ParkUs website to your mobile device's home screen to allow easy access, similar to using an app.
How to get ParkUs for your mobile:
- Open your internet browser and visit the ParkUs website or scan the QR code at the pay and display machine
- Tap the square with an upward arrow (IOS) or the three dots in the upper right corner (Android)
- Select 'Add to Home Screen'
- Tap 'Add' to confirm
Students and staff members need to log in using their university email address to access the lower rates.

Disabled / Accessible parking
There are a number of disabled parking bays in every car park across campus. You can find the locations of these in our car park locations information. Find out more about accessibility on campus.
Blue Badge holders who use a motor vehicle to enable you to travel to and from the University are exempt from any car parking fees. If you are a Blue Badge holder you are advised to register your vehicle at the Maxwell Building reception. You must display your Blue Badge clearly on your vehicle at all times.
Additional car parking information
- If you're using the Sports Centre facilities, you can park in David Lewis (Wallness Lane) for up to three hours for free, providing you register with the Sports Centre reception staff when you arrive. If you aren't using the Sports Centre, you will be charged at the standard rate
- The car parks across Salford Museum and Art Gallery and the entrance to Peel Building are not University car parks. You need to pay using the signed information and pay and display machines located in these car parks
- There are three additional disabled parking bays outside of Busy Bees Nursery (Statham Street)
- There is no parking at the front of Adelphi House
