Professor Simone Buitendijk
Professor Simone Buitendijk, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Provost at the University of Salford, is one of our presenters for the Create Student Awards 2026.
Simone Buitendijk is currently the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at the University of Salford. At Salford, she is leading on a curriculum redesign and development of the research culture, with a specific focus on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). She is also working with the Tutor Trust to incorporate volunteering into the curriculum, as well as working towards Salford joining the Knowledge Equity Network (KEN).
Before joining Salford, Simone was Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Leeds. She developed and implemented a new strategy focused on curriculum innovation, closer collaboration with business and industry, EDI, digital innovation and reducing local and global inequality.
