“I’m really happy to be nominated for a Create Student Award. The work I do in academia, alongside my activism, has always been focused outward, on other people and creating change. Because of that, it’s not often that I pause and feel proud of myself, as I’m usually thinking about what still needs to be done. So, this nomination means a lot. It gives me a moment to reflect and recognise that the work matters, not just in a wider sense, but on a personal level too. I’m also really proud to be part of Salford and to be recognised in this way. The support there has been genuinely helpful, and it makes a difference to feel that the work I care about is seen and valued. After a difficult end to 2025, due to a serious health condition, my decision to finish my PhD feels especially significant. This nomination has been a reminder of why the work matters to me, and of the resilience it’s taken to keep going.”
