“I’m very grateful to be nominated for the Environmental Champion Award, and I strive to continue to focus on implementing sustainable methods within my practices. I aim to inspire others to use the limitations of sustainable methods as a way to challenge their creativity, and to hopefully bring these into industry. My current experiments involve using household waste to create natural dyes and developing these methods to produce more consistent results for use within industry. My aim with this is to not only limit waste but also limit the impact that any waste products make, using non-toxic products that lower harm done to the natural environment. Whilst experimenting with natural dyes, I have found that sustainability is a collaborative effort, and I would not have been able to complete any of my work without the support of others. This has allowed me to be an advocate for sustainable change within costume, hopefully inspiring other students to do that same.”
