Inclusivity guide and useful information for guests
Manchester Hall
- 36 Bridge Street, Manchester, M3 3BT.
- Located across from Crazy Pedro’s and next door to Dishoom.
- A large cream building with flowers at the entrance.
- There will be a member of staff stood inside the Reception area guiding people to the event. Look for the black University of Salford lanyard.
- Floral entrance with a few steps leading up to the main door.
- For accessibility, a ramp can be provided at the entrance. Please let us know in advance if you require step-free access or any other accessibility support.
- The event space is located on a rooftop terrace and is primarily accessed via lift. Stairs are also available for those who prefer an alternative to lift access.
What to expect on the day
- Nominees will be briefed before the ceremony begins.
- Between 17:45 and 19:00 there will be a drinks and canapés reception, accompanied by a live singer. The roof terrace can be accessed from the drinks reception area and is available if you would like some fresh air or a quieter space.
- From 19:00 – 22:40 the awards ceremony will take place in a separate room. Guests will be informed of their table number on arrival and guided to their seats by a member of University of Salford staff.
- We are expecting around 150 guests across 15 round tables.
- During the ceremony, videos will be played of the nominees. Each video will have audio and subtitles.
- If nominees are needed on stage a member of staff will guide you and support you with where to go.
Ceremony room
- The room where the awards take place is well lit, with natural lighting from large surrounding windows.
- Speakers will be positioned around the dining area to support clear audio throughout the ceremony.
- Music will be played throughout the awards ceremony including during stage entrances, intervals and meal service.
- Each table will be individually lit with a LED ‘Freedom Stick’ which will react to the main stage lighting and change colour during the ceremony.
- A presentation will be projected onto the stage throughout the ceremony. This year’s colour theme is blue, orange and gold, which will feature within the presentation visuals.
Travelling to us
By car
- There are several car parks within walking distance of the venue.
- NCP Spinningfields and NCP New Bailey are the closest, with parking priced at £35 for 6 - 24 hours.
- Alternatively, NCP Stanley Street is a nine-minute walk away, with parking priced at £30 for 5 - 24 hours. All NCP car parks are secure and have over 600 spaces available.
By public transport
- The venue is a short walk from Salford Central or a 15-minute walk Victoria Station.
- The closest Metrolink is Exchange Square.
Food and Drink
- There is a set menu for the evening. Guests have been asked to complete an RSVP form to inform us of any dietary requirements, allergies or accessibility needs related to food and drink. All dietary needs will be met by the venue catering team.
- If you have not yet shared your dietary requirements, please contact us as soon as possible at create@salford.ac.uk.
- Complimentary food and drinks will be provided throughout the evening. A bar is also available should you wish to purchase alternative refreshments.
Breaks
- There will be a break at 19:45 for the starter to be served and another one at 20:45 for the main course.
- You are welcome to take breaks whenever they are needed.
Calm rooms/low sensory spaces
- The roof terrace is available throughout the evening as a quiet space.
- If you need additional support during the event please speak to a member of the Event Crew. We will introduce ourselves at the start of the evening so we are easy to identify.
Support on the day
- Contact create@saflord.ac.uk for further information about specific support on the day.
- We will support wherever possible, so please make us aware of any specific needs ahead of the event.
- You do not need to inform us if you would like to use your headphones/earphones, fidget toys, or similar comfort aids during the event.
Engaging throughout the event
- Nominees will be asked to stand and collect their certificate once the winner of your category is announced.
- Winners of each category will be invited to come up to the stage to accept their award from the presenter. There is also an opportunity to present a short thank you speech.
- Guests will be informed of their table number upon arrival and seated by staff members at the beginning of the ceremony.
- Presenters will be briefed by a member of University staff before the awards begin.
- A member of the Create team will advise nominees on where to go and when to come forward.
