Biography
I am a dedicated midwifery lecturer with a passion for equitable, evidence-based, and culturally safe maternity care. As the Year One Lead and Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) Lead, I am committed to shaping the next generation of midwives by fostering critical thinking, clinical excellence, and a deep understanding of continuity of care.
My clinical background is rooted in caseloading and continuity midwifery, where I provided holistic, person-centered care to families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Alongside my academic role, I have worked on national initiatives to improve cultural safety in maternity services, previously delivering education and training to registered midwives across the UK.
I am actively involved in advancing equity and inclusion within midwifery education and practice. As a member of the Royal College of Midwives' Decolonising Midwifery Taskforce, I contribute to reshaping midwifery curricula and policies to better reflect diverse perspectives and experiences. Additionally, I am part of the Greater Manchester Local Maternity and Neonatal System (GM LMNS) Equity and Equality Taskforce Working Group, collaborating on strategies to address disparities in maternity outcomes.
Through my teaching, research, and advocacy, I strive to empower both students and midwives to deliver culturally responsive, safe, and compassionate care to all birthing people.
