Tuition fees and scholarships

As part of our partnership with St John's University, we are proud to offer St John's students the chance to study on a range of postgraduate master’s degree programmes at the University of Salford. For students applying to begin studying in September 2026, the following scholarships are available.

All St John's Scholarships at Salford are awarded as reductions of £4,000 on tuition fees. Please note that no St John's Scholarships include financial awards for accommodation and/or other living costs, so students must be able to cover these expenses themselves.

Currently, the UK Government requires international students applying for a visa to study here to be able to demonstrate that they have at least £10,224 to cover their living costs whilst studying at any university outside London for one academic year. You will be required to show this with a bank statement confirming that these funds have been in your account for at least 28 days when you apply for your UK Student visa.

The University of Salford is approved for US federal loan (Title IV) funds and our school code is G09006.

St John's University applicants will not be required to pay a tuition fee deposit. You can choose to pay your tuition fees in full, and receive a 3% discount, or you may pay through an instalment plan.

Living costs

As well as tuition fees, applicants must budget for living costs to cover accommodation, utilities, local transport, food, clothing, socialising and other costs. You should consider approximately £17,000/$22,000 per year. You must also plan for the cost of your Student visa application (approximately £524/$680) and mandatory International Health Surcharge (approximately £776/$1000) and international travel to the UK (£800/$1000)

Please note the costs quoted are approximate for 2025 and are subject to change. More information about living costs on the living in Salford and Manchester page.

CAS and Student visa

Once you receive your unconditional letter of admission, you need to apply for your CAS from the university, and then apply for your Student visa from the UKVI agency in your country. You should familiarise yourself with the visa application and prepare your documents in advance using guidance provided on our applying for a Student visa (from outside the UK) page.

Your Student visa allows you to work up to 20 hours per week term time and 40 hours per week in vacation time.

Accommodation

On-campus accommodation is available at John Lester and Eddie Colman Courts and applications open in March. Alternatively, you can choose off-campus accommodation as described on our looking for accommodation page. You are advised to book early.

For September 2026 intake, due to new developments on the university, information about on-campus accommodation will be updated in December 2025.
