GRADUATION 2021: International student with scholarship gets top mark in Data Science
A university degree can open many doors with a scholarship reducing the financial burden of study. The University of Salford offer scholarships across a wide range of programmes with Data Science being one of many.
Ayodeji Ogunlami, an international student from Nigeria, has benefited from a scholarship to study for an MSc in Data Science and will be graduating in Summer 2021 with a Distinction.
He said: “ I chose to study at Salford for many reasons, receiving a scholarship made it more affordable. The labs at the university are well equipped which made the learning so much more productive as well and fun. My main reason for choosing the course at Salford was for the option to do a live placement as part of your dissertation.
"You get to combine study with real industry experience, this has helped me become a better data scientist as focus and practice is what I needed.”
Ayodeji is now working as a junior consultant for a Data Science and Engineering consultancy firm.
On reflecting on his time at university he added: “I studied during the time of the pandemic, the support from the tutors was amazing. I wanted to gain more knowledge on data acquisition, handling and processing, this is exactly how the course helped me. It has got me up to speed and given me the skills needed to pursue a career in the field.”
