History
The University of Salford is rooted in industry, formed from the merger of technical colleges and institutes, gaining its Royal Charter in 1967. Learn more about our heritage.
Legal and corporate framework

How we are governed
The University’s supreme governing body is the Council. Information on the governance structures in place within the University can also be found in our Annual Report.
Organisational structure
The University is comprised of 4 schools (Salford Business School, School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology, School of Health and Society and School of Science, Engineering and Environment). The schools are supported by our professional services departments.
Location
The University has three campuses - Peel Park, Frederick Road and MediaCity. Details on each can be found on our travel page.

There are opportunities to visit our campuses throughout the year on one of our open days.
