Below is an overview of the registration process for an International student. For a more detailed guide and to get started with the online portal please visit the registration website.
Make sure you plan to arrive in the UK with enough time to attend international check-in and register. This will make starting at Salford University as stress-free as possible and will ensure you don’t miss out on important events and information.
Arriving late in the UK could result in you missing international check-in and not being allowed to register for your course. Course start dates do vary so please refer to your unconditional offer letter to see when you need to arrive.
If you are an international student and hold an unconditional offer with the University of Salford, you will be contacted around six weeks prior to your course start date regarding registration, regardless of your immigration status. You will be contacted via email (on the personal email account you have provided) and asked to book an international check-in appointment to provide your immigration documents to the University.
At your international check-in appointment a member of the University staff will check all of your original documentation. We will check the documents used to obtain your unconditional offer, your passport, your visa and your decision letter from the Home Office. The University is required by law to hold a copy of these documents so, if ever we are requested to do so by the Home Office, we can provide proof of your leave to remain in the UK. It is therefore extremely important that you keep us updated throughout your studies.
If you are unable to attend your appointment you should e-mail the International check-in team via SA-IntCheckIn-Appointments@salford.ac.uk so we can re-arrange for a more suitable time.
Once you have completed international check-in you will be able to complete on-line registration. You must complete this straight away to ensure you are a registered student.
The University has a responsibility to report to the Home Office any student who fails to register. If you are unable to register on time please contact the Home Office Compliance Team so we can advise you on your options.
To help ensure you meet the requirements of your visa and settle into your course at Salford University, induction events will be arranged for you to attend.
Part of your induction will explain how to remain compliant with the conditions of your visa during your studies. We would highly recommend that you attend this and also visit the Home Office Compliance Team in University House if you have any additional requirements.
