Katya Shelmerdine
Katya is a British-Irish actor based near Manchester, with a native Lancashire accent. She brings an instinctive and emotionally grounded approach to her work, supported by a strong interest in character and storytelling.
Katya's recent screen credits include Good Tidings, in which she played Linda, a complex mother figure; the film received recognition for Outstanding Screenplay at the University of Salford’s Final Film Screen Awards. She has also worked across television, film and commercials.
As part of her MA, Katya has also trained in motion capture drawing on her strong movement background which encompasses contemporary dance and advanced yoga teacher training. This gives her a developed awareness of physical embodiment, presence and the expressive possibilities of the body. Alongside her native Lancashire accent, she performs confidently in Irish and Northern Irish accents. She thrives in collaborative environments, creating detailed and truthful performances that connect with audiences.
