Paul Vivian
Paul Vivian, Director of Art and Design, is a member of the University judging panel for the annual Create Student Awards.

Paul has worked in Further and Higher Education for 23 years in several teaching, programme leadership and management roles. During this time, he developed ‘Black Box’ an international curatorial project space working with notable international artists including Gavin Turk and David Batchelor.
Paul holds several external examiner roles and has contributed to validation and review panels for several UK and international universities. In addition, he is a practicing artist whose work centres upon his discovery in 2023 of acoustic resonance of standing stones at ancient sites from the Neolithic and Bronze Age era following field work conducted throughout the UK. In relation to this work, he is about to embark on a PhD research project with Birkbeck College, London.
Paul has contributed to group exhibitions and presented solo projects both nationally and internationally within the UK, Ireland, and Germany. He has recently published on Archaeoacoustics, creative pedagogy and collage and delivered papers at conferences internationally. He holds a studio within Greater Manchester and previously studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design and Norwich School of Art and Design.
