Biography
Tim has been a professional musician and educator for over 20 years. He has played and toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe appearing on albums, live broadcasts and film. Notable highlights include Bryan Ferry, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra with Ricardo Afonso, jazz singer Todd Gordon, Julian Arguelles, Arild Andersen and the film “RKO-281” starring John Malkovich, Melanie Griffith and Liev Schreiber.
Tim currently teaches music theory and ear training skills to all first year and directs the weekly masterclass series for all music students to engage with some of the world’s leading musicians. Tim has also taught composition, performance, musicology and improvisation. He recently spent a week teaching and delivering masterclasses to music students at Middle Tennessee State University, one of the University of Salfords’ esteemed partners. Tim is the Woodwind Director for the Greater Manchester Jazz Orchestra and is the Director for the University of Salfords Big Band.
Tim’s research is through practice and the developments of the genre ‘Third Stream’-a musical genre that is a synthesis of Classical music and Jazz. He has recorded 3 albums of late that bring together the structure and harmony of Classical music fused with the spontaneity and an extrovertism of the Avant-Garde.
