Biography
Sian has spent the last 15 years working in technology related roles - first as an analyst and consultant, before becoming a dedicated trainer in tools like Tableau, Power BI, SQL and Databricks, teaching students at all levels how to leverage technology to build and tell compelling data stories. Having architected learning journeys for many years, Sian is now on her own journey of discovery - returning to academia. Sian is in her first year of her PhD, working on an interdisciplinary research project focused on climate conditioned modelling and nature based solutions. Sian is supported by Dr Rosie Anthony (climate change and sustainability) and Prof William Holderbaum (control systems and modelling). Although skilled with software, data engineering, Sian’s research geography is close to home - NW England, North Wales and NW Scotland, and she is hoping to get away from the laptop and do some field research during her project.
