Lecturer in Cybersecurity

Biography

Dr. Sadaf is a Lecturer in Cybersecurity at the School of Science, Engineering and Environment (SEE) at the University of Salford, Manchester, UK. She received her Ph.D. and MSc. degrees in Information Technology, with research dissertations in the domain of information security, from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia. She has a profound experience in teaching and research in multi-national universities. She is also a member of the IoT Research and Innovation Lab (IRIL) at Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science, Pakistan. She has served as a co-chair and technical program committee (TPC) member at many international conferences. She has published in various impact factor journals and reputable conferences with distinguished indices like SCOPUS and ISI. She has won eminent national and international research funding in her academic tenure. She is also a prominent impact factor journals reviewer and serves as a guest editor of a special issue of the Health Informatics Journal of Sage publications.

AI/ ML in Cyber/ Information Security, IoT/ IIoT Vulnerability Analysis and Security, Industrial SIEM, Malware Analysis and Prevention, Threat Hunting and Modelling in Smart Cyber-Physical Systems, Optimization of IDS/ IPS using Machine Learning, Wireless Attacks Detection, Prevention using Deep learning

Areas of supervision

All areas are similar but not limited to my areas of research.

Teaching

My current teaching areas are Information Security, Information Security Management, Network Penetration Testing, and Fundamentals of Cybersecurity. I am also supervising final year and MSc projects on Smart Surveillance Cryptography, Intelligent Honeypots, Secure Software Development in Gaming, a Web Manager for Password Storage, a Web Vulnerability Scanning Tool using Kali Linux, and Gamification for Cybersecurity.

Research Interests

My main research interests include but are not limited to, information/ cyber security issues in CEIs, IoT vulnerability assessments and rulesets, threat modeling in smart CPS, AI/ ML for optimization security solutions, and security/privacy solutions in social and organizational networks.
