Biography

Robert earned his Bachelor's degree in Air Transport Management with Commercial Pilot Training in 2008. During this time, he obtained his private pilot's license (CAA), commercial pilot's license (CPL), multi-engine class rating, night rating, and successfully completed the full JAA ATPL ground school examinations. He has accumulated over 250 flight hours, flying into a variety of airfields across the UK, the Bahamas, and Florida, including major hubs like Miami International (MIA), Orlando International (MCO), Nassau International (NAS), and Tampa (TPA) to name a few.

Before joining the University of Salford, Robert dedicated over 20 years service to the aviation sector, working with both ground services operators and airlines, including SAS Scandinavian Ground Services, Thomas Cook Airlines, and most recently the last 13 years for Virgin Atlantic Airways.

Robert currently lectures our BEng (Hons) Aircraft Engineering with Pilot Studies Level 5 students, focusing on Safety in Aviation, Human Factors, and Crew Resource Management. Additionally, he lectures for our MSc Sustainable Air Transport Operations & Planning programme.
